- My name is Kristyn Bell and go to Greenup County High School. I take advanced classes and am very good. My favorite is history. I play the clarinet in the high school band. My brother is Autistic and plays on a team for disability kids(see photos). I go to a Baptist church and am very family oriented.

Brutus’ Diary

Dear Diary,
It is early morning and though cannot sleep for I can’t believe what Cassius just asked me to do today. He wants me to help them go against Caesar and KILL him. Even though Caesar hath never done me wrong. I do not know what I should do. My mind is thinking and racing as my heart has gone astray. For if I use my heart I would not find I fought with him and believe he shall live. However with mind he is weak and has a taste for power, so if he has dictatorship over Rome then we and Rome can be in jeopardy.
Yesterday we were close in him becoming the ruler of Rome. As of after the race Marc Antony offered him the crown, in which was actually the crown of leaves used for the race, but he denied it three times. Then afterward he was walking back, he fell and was unconscious for a few moments. For I know he does have a medical condition, but it does show weakness as a ruler and a person. If we shall do something we shall do it now for we do not know what today brings. Antony may even offer him the crown again and he may accept it this time after a night’s rest of wishful thinking.
I am listening to the weather for it is terrible. Many people have seen weird things. People seen a lion at the capital building, as another group seen a man running through the streets on fire. As many such other things has happened tonight. I believe the Gods are trying to tell us something. Even the soothsayer said to Caesar to beware the ides of March, in which is today yes. These seem like omens of something bad shall happen today. They are trying to convince me of being a conspirator, also. For the Gods do know what is right for us and the city of Rome.
I do know our entire ancestor saying it would be a bad thing if one person, such as Caesar, ruled Rome. I believe I am trying to convince myself of going along with them. For I am starting to see the right and chosen path in which the Gods are telling me in which I shall go and it is in killing Caesar.
However Caesar has never wronged me not once. I shall not know what to do. He is very good and generous to me as well as our city. As Cassius is not liked very well by Caesar. In which may helped in him deciding on killing him while taking revenge on him. I still do not know what to do.
My dear wife Portia is begging me to tell her my troubles in which I do not want to tell her. I would not know the affect it would have on her. But I really would not keep anything from her accept for her own safety. If I do what Cassius is asking I don’t know what affect it will have on Portia. I do love her greatly and there is a chance that if I do this act I might be in jail or even hanged for it. I am trying to take in every account of me doing this; helping in this act of killing Caesar, I still do not know what to do.
For a second let me think of Rome’s people. If Caesar becomes the one and only ruler of Rome than what would become of us, what would such power do to him? Since, he was offered the crown today after the race then Marc Antony may tomorrow offer him the real crown and he may accept it. This is such a powerful decision.
The most important thing though is Rome and its people. The people look up to me as an honorable and distinguished man. They believe in me keeping them safe and secure. In my mind Cassius has made me think deeply about Caesar and who he is. He is a good person, but is also weak in a few ways mentally and physically. It made me think of what he would do if he came to power.
I think I have made my decision. I believe for the good of all Rome I think the best resolution in this matter is to kill Caesar. Even though he has never wronged me this is the best decision to me. For the Gods sent omens from above to influence me in my decision. Also I shall know not what to do with Marc Antony. He is so loyal to Caesar and trustworthy. What would happen when he is gone? I think though without Caesar, Marc Antony would not know what to do and to make the people see the cause of our actions we should not kill him. For he is apart of Caesar, he is Caesar’s arm, so without Caesar he would not know what to do.
My choice is to join with Cassius and be a conspirator in the murdering of Julius Caesar. I shall hope people make it known that it is for their own good. For that I am doing this for them and not out of revenge. I shall now relay my answer to Cassius so he will make it known to him. I hear a knock at the door I shall leave thee now until another day.
